Large and in charge

We had a much lighter day today, less than 90 miles to do, so a lazy morning was had with a sunshiney tree-lined walk in and around Woodhall Spa, with a few Eurofighter aeroplanes racing by overhead.

After some judicious fiddling with my not-a-phone GPS I was relieved to find a way to stop Mrs Directions shouting at me at the top of her electronic voice every time, like she did yesterday. I am very impressed and pleased with the Cardo intercom, and have whiled away the road hours chatting on and off.

Peterborough for a picnic lunch and a long sit on a park bench by a pond, watching ducks and swans and enjoying sunshine and warmth. I could have sat there until it got dark!

Then a gentle blast down the motorway took us to Bedford and a chance to marvel at the historic airship hangars at Cardington. They are absolutely enormous. Our touristy interest was dented a little by a security-type guard who was officious and anxious in equal measure and who gave a wholly unconvincing argument about how we could take photos here but not there, and that we couldn't look at this bit but it was ok to look at that bit...and then that we'd parked in the wrong place, and frankly I think he would rather have had everyone with an interest in the sheds go away and never come back. Meh.

So we rocked up at the hotel in Bedford and in lieu of a stroll in the impending rain we opted for a big salad in a comfortable restaurant and all was well with the world again. Next stop, the south coast!

Edit: I enjoyed the irony of today being Tiny Tuesday, but blipping the biggest things I've ever seen. :-)
