I do like to be beside the seaside

Considering the distance we had to cover today, we made good time while never having to rush. All in all it was an easy ride that we broke up into three. First was a splash and dash near Welwyn Garden City for fuel and a quick nibble and a drink, and to have a little break from road noise. Earplugs can only do so much and after a while it gets too tiring to carry on.

Then we joined the melee of the M25, dicing with the big lorries here and there but mostly keeping to their slower pace. After a blustery but exciting trip over the big bridge over the Thames at Dartford, we escaped to a business park and a little cafe that overlooks (surprise surprise!) a large duck pond, where we had a quite long lunch stop.

From Dartford we followed the M20 and its Channel Tunnel bound traffic, doing the 50mph limit for miles and miles and miles. Not even Fidra's mighty presence and official (looking) hi-viz markings were enough to keep Mr Tailgating BMW in check and he sped off to make up literally some car lengths on the vehicles ahead. The M20 gave way to minor roads which became tiny, pokey roads through fields that led eventually, and bang on time actually, to the seasidey village of Dymchurch, which was breezy and cold, but makes up for it with fish and chips and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway that uses proper steam engines but in perfect 1/3 scale.

We had a wander up and down the seafront and the high street until we had had enough of being blown to pieces in the wind! @flumgummery may also wish to visit in order to see the plethora of Martello towers that are stationed up and down the coast here.
