Market Day.

An early start today . Kev not here,so started feeding cattle at 5.30 . Had more or less everything done by the time Geordie arrived in with his lorry at 7.30 to collect the 36 Blks and hefs for the sale at St Boswells.
Was nearly the end of the ballot,so it was about 1.30 before was sold. The trade a lot easier today than previous sales. I have been averaging about 300p/ K up to now. Today the average was 280p. The abattoirs have been sneaking the killing price back steadily so the store cattle buyers are getting a bit nervous and paying accordingly.
At least I had a good feed in the canteen before I left ,roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, gravy, veg and chips. Can't beat it .
A brief dry spell tonight, but the forecast is for more heavy rain. Think I better swap the seed barley for seed rice !
