Movin’ On

I’ve blipped South African blues guitarist Dan Patlansky before, most recently almost exactly two years ago. And in the same venue as tonight’s gig - The Deaf Institute in Manchester. A great little venue and we’ve seen some fine acts there.
Tonight’s concert was a live launch of his latest album, and we were treated to a goodly selection of tracks as well as some classics from his back catalogue. Support was from a guy called Andy Sharrocks who played some really good country blues numbers.
Mr Patlansky was on fine form - he really is one of the most gifted blues guitarists I’ve seen. Unfortunately for his bank balance, I don’t own any of his albums because you just cannot capture the brilliance of his live performances on a studio album. I’m really hoping he does a live album sometime soon!
One thing about gigs at the Deaf Institute is that their curfew is 10pm, meaning we should be back home before midnight. Which is a good thing as we have spent an inordinate amount of time in slow moving traffic today. It took nearly five hours to get from Kendal to Chester (to see mum) and then two hours to get from Chester to Manchester! Those journeys should only be two hours in total when the traffic flows freely.
We weren’t late for anything though and had plenty of time for a meal before the gig. I’m just fed up with having spent half the day sat in a car! At least the gig made it worth all the misery. Well, almost…
