Comedy Tonight

A change of scene and pace for this evening’s entertainment - stand up comedy at Lancaster Grand. We’d come to see Chris McCausland but, due to the Grand’s strict “no photos during the performance” policy, I can only show you the set up of the stage.
Originally, I’d had to join a waiting list for tickets as both shows (he was on last night as well) were sold out. Fortunately, we were allocated tickets quite quickly, albeit at the back of the circle.
So it was quite surprising to see six completely empty rows in front of us with only five minutes to go before the show started. A minute or so later, all was explained when the stewards started asking people if they’d like to move forward and fill the rows because “Ticketmaster had cocked up!” Apparently, they’d told the Grand that all the seats were sold and only fessed up at the last minute that a mistake had been made.
Still, we benefited from their error and ended up with a really good view, only a few rows back. And it was a great show. We had a warm up act - Jon Long - who was very amusing. A slightly off the wall look at life, with some great laugh out loud moments.
After the interval, Chris came out and entertained us for a good hour and a half. A lot of his humour derives from the fact that he is blind and how this affects the situations he finds himself in. There were times when I found myself struggling to breathe, I was laughing so much as he developed a story!
A great night out and, once again, I thought how lucky we are that we have a venue so close to Kendal, that attracts these top drawer acts.
