First Game; First Win

Hubby was up and at church by 6:00 am. Today was the KofC pancake breakfast. I scrubbed the kitchen and adjoining rooms while he was gone. He brings me breakfast by10:30 but I had a donut and coffee before he arrived. We headed to Brooklyn’s first game of the season in Alexandria, Va. Our GPS said would take an hour and 15 minutes. We gave ourselves two hours with only one quick rest stop. We arrived at 2:10. Luckily, they didn’t start on time. It was perfect weather for soccer, plenty of sun with the slightest chill in the air. Brooklyn (green shirt) had to go out of her safe space a few times. They scored on her once as she dove for the ball but didn’t get complete control of it. They were playing on natural turf that had not been cut this year and she didn’t quite judge the ball’s speed (or lack of speed). Her head hit the ground pretty hard; Kim wanted her out of the game but Brook is tough. Her team came through and scored three goals to the two scored on her. We are heading home for a minute and then having dinner with Jamie’s family now that Lauren’s crew is back in town. There was another fatal accident not far from our neighborhood this morning. A motorcycle and SUV crashed. The motorcyclist was pinned under the car; a mother and 5 year old were helicoptered out with life threatening injuries. It makes you very nervous to be on the roads. Stay safe out there. Hoping you had a fun weekend. Thanks for dropping by. “As a goalkeeper, you have to take risks even though at times you may make mistakes.” - Victor Valdes
