Life is a Challenge!

FOOD AND FEET - NOT NECESSARILY TOGETHER!

Today I went to the Community Fridge for the first time since my fall and it was good to be back.  I was supposed to be knitting and nattering, but in the event, just nattered.  I had some lovely conversations with people I haven’t seen for a while and although we didn’t have as many helpers, all went well.

You can see by the empty baskets, which were full at the beginning of the session, that a goodly number of people came through the doors but obviously not many people were keen on having swedes, because there were lots left.  Sadly, although one of the ladies who visits takes lots and lots of bananas and other fruit and vegetables, all past their best, to compost, there were still lots of bananas left at the end of the session.  Such a shame as they are just right for making Banana Bread!

There were also quite a lot of children, as they are still on holiday from school, so it was good to see them too and I was able to tell quite a few of them about the Craft Morning and free lunch that is taking place at the Church on Saturday so hope that some of them may decide to attend.

This afternoon, we had our first visit for well over a year from Jo, our Podiatrist, and I think it’s fair to say that we are both “walking on air” after her excellent work.  However, having our feet “done” is not our favourite thing, but it’s always a delight to see Jo anyway and to catch up on her news.  She only lives literally round the corner from us, so it will only take her a couple of minutes to get home, so “very handy” for her - or should that be, in her case, “very footy”?

Mr. HCB was very busy whilst I was out this morning, mowing the lawn, weeding his raised beds, generally tidying up and pulling rhubarb, so with the strawberries I got from the Community Fridge this morning that were really past their best, there is a lovely aroma in the kitchen where they have been stewed up.  Looking forward to having some with a large dollop of Greek Yoghourt for our dessert tonight.
