Unsuccessful

A comfortable day descended into cloud and low light towards late afternoon when I went out. I was initially attracted to the abundance of brightly coloured flowers, mainly daffodils of various kinds. Tulips don't do well here because the deer eat them.

However, I decided on the kingfisher for today, which drew me away by its characteristic staccato call. I saw it dive from a nearby tree and heard the splash, as it attempted to catch a fish, before it posed briefly for me on this branch poking out of the water.
