Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A good and not so good day…

JR was delighted when she came home from the gym to find that her new bank cards, ordered on Tuesday, had arrived. She had lost them one day and was in a complete panic and stopped them through the bank website. Then she found them... Actually, she 'mislaid' them a couple of weeks ago as well...

I have been promising to set up Apple Pay on her phone, so today was the day, with the new card. And she was off into town with her phone and her bus pass. Actually, no - she forgot her bus pass and had to come home. And yes, no problem getting used to using it - she got some new shoes she's had her eye on for ages.

When Archie went out with Elizabeth, we set off to try a new local cafe. One good thing - the music was perfectly acceptable (Beatles, Cat Stevens) and at a reasonable volume, but the food was not. I’m not even going to include the obligatory lunch photo, because it will remind us of the meal. We must have chosen the wrong things, because it's had good write ups. Suffice to say, we won't be rushing back. JR paid with her phone for the first time, and was delighted how easy it all was.

In the afternoon I watched a couple of episodes of ' The Thick of It', it's pretty old now, and I didn't see it first time around. It's quite clever and amusing, but the constant swearing, yelling and wobbly hand-held camera work render it unwatchable.

We're missing Ripley - that was SO good.
