Coffee and cake

Inspired by yesterday’s Green Gardens Tour, MrMacD and I got stuck in this morning and set up four raised beds with “surrounds” we found underneath the house.  We had plenty of cardboard, brown and green waste to start lasagne gardens in them and were quite pleased with what we managed to achieve in an hour and a half.

We just had time for a quick change before we drove to the Totara Estate for a Learned Lecture from the husband and wife team who are McLean & Co, weavers.  It was a wonderful and quite emotional talk, learning how McLean & Co came to be and the major life challenges they’ve faced along the way.  We’re so pleased we went along.  Two of our friends were there so we had afternoon tea together afterwards in the very quaint old-fashioned tea room.  I had the spiced apple cake with apple sauce and cream and it was delicious.  Everything is made in house so it was all lovely and fresh.

We had almost finished clearing up after supper when we received a call from our friends in Queenstown.  We talked for three-quarters of an hour catching up on each others’ news.  I’d been thinking of them over the last few days, so the thought waves obviously reached them.

I still haven’t looked at blip journals, so am slightly behind.
