Quod oculus meus videt

Sunrise - Ant’s Hill Lodges

Starting to relax, this was the scene from the terrace decking at about 6 am.

Took on two rides today. The first started out just after 8 am and lasted over two hours. I was matched with a horse that knew how to follow, and it was at a gentle pace for us novices while the more accomplished riders (I.e. L) cantered off into the distance. It was windy, from the south which is a cold wind in these locations, and while we saw a few animals, they seemed to be few and far between.

The second ride was late and ended up in front of a glorious sunset as sundowners was served. My knees were protesting while on and getting off the horse, but they soon recovered. The beauty of riding is the ability to get so close to the wildlife and in one location we were part of a wildebeest herd for a short while. The difficulty is carrying a camera at the same time
