The thumbnail (daffs) doesn't really capture the day.

In fact, it's not really been a very good day at all. I was pretty anxious about being back at work, and didn't feel that I had a handle on all aspects of my brief (that's understating things a bit in respect of how it felt today...but it will get better in the next few days, I'm sure....). And then, whilst we were finishing dinner, the building fire alarm went off. Cue sky high anxieties, because it's all very well it happening in the light of day, when we could see what was happening outside and we were quickly reassured by a neighbour who is a key holder that it was a false alarm triggered by the same problematic sensor that triggers about three quarters of the false alarms around here, but the real problem will arise when it goes off in the night again. As it inevitably will do. I kept myself busy packing my bag ready to leave if we had to, but we didn't, thank goodness. So the other pictures are a picture of the extant scaffolding over numbers 11 and 15 (taken this morning before all the anxieties had kicked in), plus a gathering in the courtyard after the alarm had been quietened, involving the security people we now have on the site plus a neighbour from our core who always knows "what's what".

Oh, and the daffs. A gift from N and A on Saturday night which we brought back to Edinburgh as a nice memory from Tain. They are brightening up our dining room table right now. Clinging to small things, like a life raft.

Funnily enough, I slept fine last night, having not expected to. Let's see what happens tonight.
