Girls day out

A visit to Bowes museum was the girls day out today. The three of us have bought annual member tickets. A whole £13.50 for local membership, for anytime entrance as often as you like and for all the extra visiting exhibitions throughout the year too. Amazing value I think. We will return many times I'm sure. I'm looking forward to the. Vivienne Westwood exhibition later in the summer. We didn't attempt the gardens and woodland as the weather was damp, very cold and windy. We'll save that for another day. We spent three hours walking round inside and crammed into a room to watch the silver swan perform http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Swan_(automaton)
There was a couple of coach loads of people exploring the museum and as there is only one performance per day it was quite crowded. It lasts just about 30 seconds!
I think my favourite part was the fashion through the ages, but there is so much to see we only really skimmed the surface in those three hours. I've added a few extra photos but they don't do the museum much justice. The tree hangings outside make a very gentle soft tinkling noise. 
We enjoyed a super size cheese scone and coffee in the café which was a joy in itself.
A thoroughly great day out.
