Lilac,

Gradually all the jobs, tasks and preparations are being ticked off. “Only” the packing of clothes and all the paraphernalia to do tomorrow. Oh! and check the car over, give it a wash and spruce up and the final bits of shopping.

Of course we managed to get out for a walk this morning after an allotment committee meeting. Which is where we saw this rather pretty and unusual lilac. It had a very fine aroma. Anyone know what variety it is?

This evening we attended a BearstedCAN (Climate Action Network) at the Holy Cross Church. Two interesting speakers; one about the Asian hornet and how to help prevent its spread. The other about swifts which gave lots of information about this most fascinating of birds. Why is it that this country is one of the worst in the world for the decline of swifts?

A change in the weather from yesterday’s balmy sunshine and high temperatures. Colder, darkly overcast and damp. Fortunately we escaped thunderstorms last night although Susan said she saw flashes of lightning in the night
