Tension

The pressure is building at work again. Lots of testing of the new application, both in the field, with the users finding those weird bugs that only users can find - as a result of doing silly things that were not foreseen by the design, but have to be fixed all the same. Our own in-house testing has also thrown up some weird bugs, Forrest to the fore in finding those. He's proving to be quite good at breaking my software! With other projects needing some tickling along, my brain was fried again today.

The lads were both playing in a Twenty-20 Semi-Final game against arch rivals Burley tonight so I stopped by on the way home to watch a bit and ended up staying to see almost the entire game. Although neither Forrest nor Roam contributed much we pulled off a great win, defending a total of 179 with some very agile fielding. The standard in the field throughout was superb and thrilling to watch. I remain a purist in my true love for the longer form of the game but I do really enjoy the odd flirtation with the short form. It's cricket on speed and it certainly has a much wider appeal. There was a good crowd out at Burley and a great atmosphere. You can positively see the tension in the air here.

This may be a significant moment in the club's history. Burley is a very strong and long-standing club. Ben Rhydding is relatively new and, to quite recently, quite a minor player in the local league, there being two other strong cricket clubs in Ilkley. This may be our first ever victory in senior cricket over our rivals from the nearby town down the valley!

So, home late, a quick catch-up with the Tour and a very late dinner at 11pm. And now a very early posting on blip at 7.30am before facing another long day in the office. And it looks like summer has finally arrived properly and is here to stay for a while. Hurray to that.
