A Model Foundry

Taking Shadow for some exercise with youngest, we walked a short way down the developed side of Yew Tree Lane to find a different way to cross the Golf Course, and just before finding the footpath, happening across yet another piece of iron to snap.

It was the name that stood out as unusual, 'The Model Foundry', and a quick search points to quite a small operation in Knottingly, Yorkshire...a stones throw from Ferrybridge Power Station...that employed 40 people at its peak.

This one will have been produced right at the end of the foundry's existence. The business closed on June 6th 1968 which is roughly the time that the housing here was built.
