El Romería de El Rocío/Pilgrimage of El Rocío

Back blip

Much excitement this morning when Bb texted from his breakfast table on Plaza San Loren to say that ‘something’ was about to happen. People in their Sunday best were starting to gather. I got there in 10 mins (it is just 2 mins away) and managed to catch some of the procession. Very impressive and so south of Spain - we wouldn’t get this in Barcelona! Parishes in Seville make pilgrimages to a glade outside of Seville and there are three days of celebrations. Huge thing!

Excitement all over before 9.00am and I had coffee and then back to the apartment for some solid marking.

Dinner was a bit of a bit and miss at night. I ended up back on the terrace of our first night place on the Alameda, but the food was nothing special. It ended well though, with tarta de queso manchego in an Italian place just a few doors along.
