Yellow Irises

Today was an unexpectedly glorious day. After delivering the local council newsletters (keeps me on on my toes!) I shot up to the neighbourhood pond and took some photos of the irises before they fade. In pairs they form amazing swirling shapes and I emphasised this by shooting the blooms from below exploiting the widest angle possible on my iPhone, and showing the translucency of the petals in the bright sunshine.

In Photoshop I used the poster edges filter giving some 'bite' to the outlines of flowers and clouds, and just a touch of the sheer filter. Lots of bees were buzzing around, but it was not possible to include them from this low angle. However these yellow flowers sing of summer!
