Lavender blooms

Lavendar flowers are borne in whorls, held on spikes rising above the foliage. This plant is flowering for the second year in a garden tub. I thought it was dead in the early spring but it has dozens of blooms now and is attracting bees all day long when the sun shines. It's great to see the bees so active in my garden when so much has been written about their decline.

It not only looks good, the leaves smell wonderful. Rub them between your fingers and you release the essential oil which is so highly prized. It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and is used also as a fragrance for all kinds of enhancing products for the home and personal use.

I added a Paint Daubs filter which made the edges of the flowers and leaves stand out.
