If you can't beat them...

The Duke of Portland's Boathouse.

Clickychick had a hospital appointment in North Shields so it was out of bed 6:30 ( I had forgotten there are two 6:30s in a day).  We got an early start allowing plenty of time for anything going wrong before her 10:30 appointment.  We had a trouble free run over.  However when the hospital talked to her yesterday they suggested I drop her off at the door and go away to find somewhere to park.

We arrived at the entry barriers to the car park (two side by side).  There was a car in one so we obviously used the other.  Pressed the button for a ticket ( a number of times ) no response.  A word with the man in the other car showed it only opened if there was a space inside.  So as we were off the road we decided to just wait it out.  Eventually it let us in.  We got parked and had time for a coffee before her appointment, whi ch was going to take an hour and a half.  Once she was whisked away I divided my time between reading my book in the cafe , reading in the car and back to the foyer to wait for her.

We had lunch at Brockbushe's before heading back to Cumbria Westmorland and Furness.  Then we went down the Lake as CC was needing a U for her alphabet challenge.  Taking our life in our hands we took shots of what is probably the most photographed spot in the whole of the Lake District.  I don't know how we managed it but a few years ago we stopped there and there were 5 tripods set up by the edge of the road.  Today CC had to stand on a drain cover to be outside the yellow line.  I wasn't as brave, I stayed on the small grass verge on the other side of the road.

P.S.   The boathouse is now a very small very expensive holiday let.
