Life is a Challenge!

FOOD

My intention today was to blip Mr. HCB eating his lunch before he left to go home. However, we had to complain to the waitress as our beef was just not good enough to eat - in fact, it would have been put to better use in mending shoes, if you get my drift - so Mr. HCB didn't get blipped!

We decided rather than having more of the same, we would try the roast pork instead and this was MUCH better - and we even had crackling.

Here is my offering for the HeartFreek July Photo Challenge for food.

Not the best roast dinner I have ever had, but it was good to enjoy a meal with Mr. HCB before he goes off for his cricketing jaunts and when he gets back, I have promised him some melt-in-the-mouth beef with my special Yorkshire Puddings - what a treat for him to look forward to!

I found out the following:

13.1% of the world's population is hungry. That's roughly 925 million people who go undernourished on a daily basis.

The world produces enough food to feed all 7 billion people who live in it, but those who go hungry either do not have land to grow food or money to purchase it.

Poverty is the main cause of hunger, and hunger is a cause of poverty.

In 2010, an estimated 7.6 million children - more than 20,000 a day - died from hunger. Nearly 98% of worldwide hunger exists in under-developed countries.

Hunger is often passed from mother to child.

Each year, 17 million children are born underweight because their mothers are malnourished.

Almost 1 in every 15 children in developing countries dies from hunger.

Hope you all have a great week after a sunny weekend.

P.S. Sitting here typing this up, I realise that so many people would have willingly eaten what we sent back so perhaps before we go out for another meal, we might think about donating the money to charity instead!
