Edison Washington Day

Took this photo of Arvin, Nora and Steve in Tweets. They have really amazingly yummy food. Their coffee is great. And they give you a pleasant and laugh-producing hard time when you order. It is a great little place that is in Edison, WA, right near some other great places.

We decided to drive down from Bellingham while my sister-in-law Nora drove up from Anacortes and my brother Steve rode down on his bike from Bellingham, all to meet in the charming town of Edison. We really love it there. It is in the flat tidal estuary area of Skagit County. It is rural but has some great places that are urban in their atmosphere and offerings. Tweets is just one delightful place there.

There are two bakeries. We stopped and bought bread and cookies at Breadfarm, right up the road from Tweets near the Longhorn Saloon, a biker's bar with good tavern food. There is also a number of high quality galleries there including the Smith & Vallee Gallery where we stopped to see the current show. Interesting stuff!

After lunch Arvin and I took off back up Chuckanut Drive heading home to Bellingham. We stopped at our favorite spot along the way, the Chuckanut Bay Gallery where I was tempted and succumbed to a pair of lovely earrings. Must admit to a bit of a compulsion when it comes to earrings.

We arrived home late in the afternoon, still full with a wonderful goat cheese polenta and veggie meal, and happy from a lovely day with family taking in the sun.
