I met my old lunch 0n Wednesday friend at the shopping center in Corte Madera, which is about half way between Berkeley and Santa Rosa. We were sitting outside having coffee and catching up and I was taken by these Lion's Tails. They are South African natives and would probably look good on our steep, rocky slope.

We met at Nordstrom which they are keeping open while they massively remodel the entire store. Bad idea--it's dark and depressing. It takes forever. Guys in hard hats work in roped off areas right next to people shopping for or dresses or whatever.Things are shoved into any available corner and salespeople are literally having to find out each day where their department is located each day and searching through cardboard boxes for stuff. They did the same thing a year or two in the Walnut Creek store and Jan and I (and the guy in the Michael Stars shop) think it would be a lot better to just close the store for a couple of months and work 24/7 and get it done.

Having solved that problem and had our lunch (which is in the other shopping center on the other side of the freeway) we spent some time in the hot parking lot looking first for her car and then back on the first side of the freeway for mine. It was nice to see her again, but I think we need to figure out a better place to meet....
