This is what you do . . . .

It was a lovely day in the Surrey countryside. For once the second Wednesday was fine as just five of us from the WI Camera Group headed south into the Leith Hill area. We enjoy our days out together when we can take pictures without being hassled and enjoy each others company too.

We started with a snack lunch outside at the Stephan Langton pub at Friday Street. Then we wandered down to the picturesque lake. On the way Liz was explaining camera settings to new member Linda. After Friday Street we tackled the narrow lanes and found our way to Abinger Hatch. Here we explored the extremely unlucky church which had a direct hit by a bomb in the second world war, and then, after extensive rebuilding was struck by lightning. Also at this lovely spot there is an ancient set of stocks, the remains of a motte and bailey and a pub which provided us with a welcome cup of tea.

We all said how we lucky we are to be able to have days like this in the local countryside.
