Date Palm

I didn't get to bed till past 3am last night!! Was working on a specific canvas for the photo project and really wanted to get it done and emailed for first thing in the morning, but I had to stop when my computer program started playing up!

It is the first day of Ramadan today and that means so many things!! Apart from no eating, drinking or smoking in public from sunrise to sunset, it means different working hours for offices, shops etc. It takes a few days to adjust to everything e.g. as offices work shorter hours and people come home in the afternoon to have a rest till they break their fast, ALL parking spaces get taken so you have to time outings carefully. The driving gets REALLY BAD too.

My blip today of a date palm is significant as often, dates are used to break the fast and going round the supermarket this morning, they were pretty much sold out! Apart from that, the palm tree being indigenous to the area was used for building - the fronds, leaves, trunks even... a much revered plant in this region and we think it is rather pretty! :)
