"That Was Mine!"....

...Perhaps next time....

...You've got to be quick out there on the river - so many Pelicans, more than we've ever seen before, and today was no exception...
...We went down to the river to have a bbq in the sunshine - the waterbirds were happily flying from place to place and occasionally there would be a bit of a melee with wings flapping and water splashing and lots of noise..but I was able to get this shot of 4 together after it appeared they'd had a bit of a frenzied discussion about who was getting what..

...But this was a typical scene for the duration of our time down there..our bbq was so enjoyable (we just take chops and a salad, etc.,) and later, we walk back home around the corner..

...Whilst there we spoke to the skipper of the Paddle Steamer "Rothbury" - (I've featured the old Rothbury here before recently) and he told us it was "pretty quiet this school holidays so far" - yet - the main streets were so busy we couldn't get a park and..

... Nannas and Grandpas appearing tired and worn out with their grandchildren happily skipping in front or behind and Parents as well looking as if the holidays were going to be rather long and they've only just begun...the occasional squabble and roll on the ground...because a brother had something and a sister did not...just like out on the river actually I thought..no different really...

...But as we walked away from the skipper with a cheery 'goodbye' - a couple of families came along to have a ride on the boat, it's so interesting for the little ones...and costs "around $80 for a 2-hr ride" for a family of 4...and ofcourse, it's a nice outing - especially to see the waterbirds which are in an abundance right now...
