Cyanide And Happiness

It has been very hot and humid today and I didn't get out with the camera until this evening. I was under pressure as the BBQ was prepped for sausages. I was very happy to find a six spot burnet moth. I have never togged one before. I've chosen a pic which shows off its clubbed antennae beautifully. These are usually the preserve of butterflies and the moth is day-flying too, again more usually associated with butterflies.

In the shade the moth looks black or dark green but the evening sun renders it iridescent. It's colouring warns predators that it is a suicide pill.
