Schorschi will rule

I assume Charles and William will serve at least as long as Mum & Gran so hopefully I will not live to see a 2013 born, King Schorsch mount the throne. As all Blipers know, "House of Windsor" is a 1917 made up family name, the real one being "House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha" a good Bavarian family with a small bit of Thuringia mixed in.

George is Georg in German and in the southern parts, particularly Bavaria as well as German Switzerland & much of Austria, Georg's are called Schorsch and the dimunitive is Schorschi (Georgie). (Schorsch derives from French Georges).

My grandmother had someone draw up our family tree. It was never proved but my father reckoned she gave the genealogist an extra 10 quid to hook us up with William the Conqueror, who's niece married a Robert Fitzharding who had a small pad near Slimbridge. Lots of Maurice's and Thomas's, few George's. Extraordinary to see marriages in the 17th & 18th Century with up to 15 children!

I have been through a childhood with "Georgie Porgie", spent over 50 years thinking George was old fashioned so it was nice to hear interviewed members of the public on Sky News refering to it as "classical". In the same way as I try to convince Angie my hair isn't "thin", it's "fine", or that I am not "cowardly" but "sensitive".

Blip is a collage of todays walk in Ottobeuren as I had to pick up a tube of cream from the chemist which the specialist recommended yesterday. Birgit later rejected it! Starting at the old water mill past an abandoned car, past a "field cross" asking for a blessing for fields & woodland, past maize fields which are now beginning to grow in the hot weather, and finally a short paddle. The car was very unusual given that all chassis and engine numbers are registered, so it's very easy to track the owners. You need to be very clever to flex away all the evidence and fines will no doubt be very high. At most it would cost 50 Euros to scrap it legally.

Midday the heavens darkened and the promised storms and much needed rain seemed to be on the way. What little rain hit the ground, evaporated in minutes. Hopefully some showers to morrow before the mercury rises to nearly 40°C this weekend! Angie has been complaining as the pool is around 33°C !
