Camino Diaries Day 10- One More Step Along The Road I Go
Today was the longest walk of the entire trip and it ended up being even longer than anticipated! We had it estimated at around 28km but we ended up walking around 32km with 2400ft of ascent thrown in. We were a little tired last night, so the concept of 3 more days walking with the biggest day coming up was a little daunting. However, we agreed to take it steady and have as many breaks as needed. Much to our surprise, we woke up this morning with a new lease of energy so we packed our bags and off we went. Our hostess also kindly made us a packed breakfast so we could leave as early as we wanted this morning.
We were treated to some of the most beautiful scenery of so far in my opinion today. It’s strange, some of the sights are very typically Spanish, and others feel like we’re back in D&G. We’ve also noticed there are far fewer pilgrims on this route so there are more opportunities for mindful moments and reflection, which is lovely. It was good having lots of ‘bodies’ around at the start as it had a real community feel to it but Both Mumma Bear and I are enjoying pushing ourselves out our comfort zone with navigating our way to our destinations rather than following others- not that you can get lost, the paths are very well marked.
Tomorrow we head towards the coast and I believe our accommodation is near the beach, so there’s a very high chance I will be swimming!
