Camino Diaries- On the road again
And just like that, we have waved goodbye to Santiago de Compostela and are now technically on our 2nd Camino of the trip to Finisterre. It’s quite common for pilgrims to do this route as an add on to their longer journeys, after they have reached Santiago.
Apparently, until the end of the Middle Ages, Finisterre was the last known piece of land. The place where pre-Roman people believed that souls ascended to heaven. It also has pagan connections and I’m quite interested in learning about that.
So far the route has been beautiful, we have left the the large crowds behind and are back to the peaceful villages and forest walks. Mumma bear and I have agreed our favourite spot of today was the Ponte Vella bridge; it looks like somewhere out of fairytale. We have now arrived in Negreira and are having a chilled evening as tomorrow is another long walk of around 30km.
