Camino Diaries- Rain in Spain
Today was one of our longest days at 30km, so we were actually very grateful for a cooler climate and even some rain. Our walk was very varied today with some more industrial scenes added to the villages and forests and the start was quite flat terrain. I’m currently doing a fundraising ascent challenge so I’m constantly tracking my ascent- I still have another 10,000 ft to do this month, so I was very happy to see some hills in the second half of today. Mumma bear and I have also developed a love for the local electrolyte drink Aquarius, and boy does it give you an energy kick when you need it. We have now arrived in Arzua and have checked into the Casa Brandariz. It’s an old farmhouse that’s now a family run guesthouse and it’s absolutely gorgeous, lots of stone and interesting little rooms. We’ve just finished our dinner and are enjoying our Sangrias on the balcony. I have to say I think Spanish food is very underrated, so simple yet everything is full of flavour and beautifully prepared. Tomorrow we head to O Pedrouzo.
