Selenite in the Window

This photo is of the window in Dave and Nora's house that looks across to the neighbor's identical window. Both houses were build around the turn of the 20th century and look very much the same from the outside. Dave and Nora tell me that the insides are configured quite differently. I love the way Dave and Nora's is laid out. It makes the most of its small footprint.

But that isn't the main point of this photograph. On the windowsill between the two candles is a very large crystal. It is a selenite. We bought that selenite in a store in Death Valley California forty or so years ago for our father's Christmas present from us three kids. He had been eying it and so we bought it for him. It is a really nifty thing. Here is the Wiki definition. This selenite is quite huge as you can see from this picture. It has water inside that you can see bubble back and forth when you move it. Dave is the family keeper of the selenite and I enjoy seeing it when we visit. Bigger rock.
