Spice Market

This morning we visited Aya sofia, a very old building which is a cross between a church and a mosque as it has been owned by various different people over its time. It was amazing to see how when it became a mosque, they just slapped paint straight over the christian frescos.
Afterwards, we went for a quick look in the Grand Bazaar, which is a very old shopping centre with small shops selling everything from carpets and lamps to jewellery and trainers. After a quick look round we headed to the spice market which was a maze of narrow streets filled with spices like these, furit, nuts and Turkish Delight which was quite cool.
Then we went to the spectacular blue mosque which was amzing inside as all the walls were decorated with patterned tiles and the domes were huge. We got a picnicky tea from the various people wandering around outside the mosque selling food. We saw a bit of the famous Turkish whirling Dervishes which are basically men wearing a big white robe and funny hat, spinning round to music.
We went to a beanbag cafe for some yummy Baklava and the seats were on a big piece of glass over a huge hole and you could go down into it and there was basically a whole ruined underground city which was very cool.
