Spider crab

Crabs spiders so called because of their resemblance to crabs: the way they hold their legs and ability to scuttle sideways. They don't build webs but ambush passing insects by lying in wait on a flower as here on one of my thistles.

He was out and about, not hidden at all, so in the small window with no rain I grabbed the tripod to get a shot and he really didn't like it. You can quite clearly see his fangs here with his legs being menacingly pointed in my direction but being so very tiny about 4mm I thought he was rather cute! So... daringly I gave it a push up the bum to turn round .... and he REALLY didn't like that!
