Cutting Horses

I have never had the opportunity to see this sport before and let me tell you, it is really something to witness. These horses are incredibly intelligent, supremely fast and athletic, and NEVER give up. In this sport, it is the horse that does all the work and makes all the decisions. The rider just sits there with the reins loosely draped over the horse's neck while the horse separates one cow from the herd, without disturbing the rest.

In the competition, the contestant has 2.5 minutes to separate three cows, one at a time from the herd. From what one of the professionals told me, each rider starts with a perfect score and everything done wrong subtracts from that score.

It was fast, exciting and if you love beautiful, powerful horses, it was a spectacle to behold.
