Formby beach

We had promised Lottie a few hours at the beach today depending on the weather. The forecast wasn't great so we hung around Southport a bit - a walk along the pier, a trip back on the little train and then a quick stroll along Lord Street. I was reluctant to leave but the weather was still fine so we drove down the coast to Formby Point, a gorgeous sandy beach surrounded by dunes.

We had our picnic, made a sandcastle village, collected shells, spotted jellyfish and then spotted the sky!! It got blacker and blacker and we hoped it was heading out to sea but just as Lottie had got the hang of her kite the rain started. We just got back to the car before the heavens really opened!

It has been a perfect weekend and I really didn't want to come home - Wakefield and it's surroundings seem so mundane!!
