No need to mow the meadow.....

This solitary flower amounts to the total sum of success of the meadow strip we sowed in early summer.

Despite all the planning and prep I think in the end the hedge provided too much shelter from sun and rain for all the lesser seeds to germinate.

Note: This is not a failure. It's the success of a single wee seed to flourish against the odds. Bless it's cotton socks.

I'll just bide my time and see what happens next year. I am, after all the tenacious type.
