Journey Through Time

To Be Fair...

...I had to make a Fair Collage. I hope you don't mind because just one image doesn't convey the chaos that is the County Fair. All over America the County Fairs are in full swing. And there seems to be something for everyone from every kind of fried food you can imagine and some you can't imagine to a celebration of home made goods, home made quilts, arts, farm life, animal life, and entertainment from Rock and Roll, Country music to bull riding, truck pulls and the ever popular demolition derby. Of course, carnival rides to thrill you and lots of games in the midway are a major attraction. We just missed the square dance demonstration (the couple in the collage took part, I am assuming) but we saw some of the Peacock Swing Band and they sounded really good. The County Fair - ya gotta love it. Oh and this was actually a lovely "perk" that Bill got from his work. They had free tickets AND free parking and Bill said he'd be happy to take it when it was offered. So free is always a good price. All of the fair photos are in this set on Flickr, if you want to see a few more images.

One of the attractions was the guy on fire who was diving into water. The kid's stage had this very good juggler who was quite funny. Kids were getting a kick out of walking through the misters that were helping to cool people off and other kids were having a "ball" inside the plastic balls trying to walk on water.

There are always lots of animals, from gorgeous roosters to beautiful rabbits, llamas and alpacas, cows, goats, sheep, pigs...always a treat to see them when we go to the fair. There is always an exotic display at one end of the fair grounds that has snakes, lizards and other exotics that are interesting to see. I didn't get a good photo of it, darn, but they had his cute Syrian brown bear cub and he was tearing around his enclosure, playing with his stuffed toy, jumping into his water bucket, tearing around the enclosure....just being cuter than cute. I am happy how my lizard shot came out, and there are a few more on Flickr including a Basilisk, which, honestly, I thought was only in Harry Potter. I didn't know it was a real thing. Nice to learn something new.

The fairs are especially attractive at night when the lights all come on, but Bill has to work tomorrow and we put in our 4 hours and it was a pretty warm day, so I was happy to come home. I'd have liked to be able to get some night shots of the lights, but......maybe another year.

So, we are tuckered out. Thanks for looking at this. Hope all is better than fair for all of you...
