SOME TIME AGO

Mischa had suggested that we could have a little holiday together. Three days for instance. It started like this. Mischa, why should we not go to Venice for a couple of days? It then turned out that I do not fly and Mischa can't stand night trains.
Vienna then, there used to be in the Prater park a little Venice build. I could not really find if it would still be there. And the distance perhaps shorter but even then too far for a couple of days to go there.
Then we saw a wonderful picture of seals lying on the strand, made by a happy blipper.
So, we could go to the Waddeneilanden, there are excursions by boat where you sail along the place where the seals are chilling.
It still would take us four hours to reach Texel island. And where would we sleep, what would we eat, what if it stormed?
The day of our mini holiday was approaching quickly and we decided to take two days only. Saturday and sunday.
Saturday is today and we had the most fantastic holiday. We cycled from our home to Meijendel, found a place near a big pond with butterflies, crickets, dragon and damselflies. Mischa made there her lovely common blue picture, See it here if you like.
We reached Wassenaarse Slag and sat on the beach. We ate our sandwiches and at one moment gulls came flying over us, very low, to see if we would like to share our bread with them. Later nearby someone shared his food with the gulls and then many birds came again and flew above our heads again. My camera ready and my blip turned out to be one of these majestic white birds.
Just before one had reached the beach I saw a major field of seahollies amd between the plants their were little 'musjes' (sparrows in english) eating and feeding each other. So very sweet.
On our journey back we felt more tired than we had foreseen. We did have had a strong wind already and had hoped that it would not have turned. But believe me in The Netherlands you can always count on the fact that the wind turns and now there was not an exception to the rule. Tired, tired, but we found it an awsome holiday. I will not reveal what our plan for tomorrow is.

My haiku:

Cycling brings you far
Enough for the summer's moment
The world around you

And the proverb from Lao-Tsze:

A wo/man may know the world without leaving her/his own home.
