Thank U Very Much
A very cold, wet and grey day today. I’m guessing “summer” is over for the time being. First time in the gym for ten days this morning for a PT session. Our trainer said he’d break us back in gently but I have a feeling that he forgot the words “back in gently” fairly quickly! I suspect I’ll ache a bit tomorrow.
This evening it was off to Lancaster for the Footlights “Feedback and Thanks” event at the Grand Theatre. Basically, it was a review of the previous year and the results of a recent membership survey. Everything is going okay, though some areas for improvement were flagged up and we were told what was going to be done to try and resolve the issues raised. That was the “feedback” part of the event.
The “thanks” part started with a free drink and buffet when we arrived and was followed up with the presentation of awards to our “unsung heroes” (as voted for by the members) and the conferring of lifetime membership on those members who had been with Footlights for 50 odd years. There was, of course, plenty of opportunity to socialise and it was good to catch up with a few members I’d not seen for a while.
All in all an enjoyable evening - if a little “wordy” at times. It is always nice to be kept up to date with what is going on at the theatre, and the recognition of those who work away, often unseen, behind the scenes was the icing on the cake.
A busy year ahead now as all the changes we want to make are implemented. And that’s in addition to things we have to do because of changes in legislation. And all this is down to a small group of individuals who are unpaid volunteers and do it for the love of the theatre. They definitely deserve our thanks and recognition.
