Golf

Last night Luke and I watched the TV drama Brian and Maggy, about the friendship and interviews between Maggie Thatcher and Brian Walden, a part of political history that I knew nothing about. Gavin went to bed early.

After a good night's sleep Gavin said he felt fine but next thing he was very wobbly and had sweat pouring off his face as his temperature spiked again. He won't go to A&E and I don't blame him really, as on a bank holiday weekend you can sit there all day which he did not feel up to doing.

Luke and I walked Xena while Gavin rested and we had a booking for 18 holes of golf which we thought we should cancel, but Gavin was persistent about playing. It was a bit disastrous, Luke was not playing well because it's the first time he has played since his shoulder injury so his timing was a bit off, I was worried about Gavin so could not really concentrate so also played badly, and Gavin's balance was so off that he could barely hit a ball. He was determined to play but eventually after 9 holes Luke and I said we must go home. Gavin felt fine when playing, his temperature was down again but now he is feeling wobbly. Not sure what it is and if it is connected to his recent hernia surgery, or the problem he had this week with the cancer scare or if it's just some kind of weird virus. I booked a telephone appointment with a doctor which is tomorrow morning so we will see what is said then.

I played very badly but the good news is that I wore my wrist brace today and it helped hugely to prevent my wrist from feeling painful. Unfortunately it is quite a cumbersome thing to wear which affects my grip so I need to get used to wearing it for golf.

We had a lovely long catch up video call with Adam today, discussing everything from US and UK politics to life in San Diego.

Some images of Luke playing golf today, it was wonderfully bright and sunny again but very windy. My pink golf bag on it's cart is in the background.
