Smooth(ing) Plane (TT517)
My blip is the sharp end of a smoothing plane used to bring sawn wood down to a smooth surface finish. This one belonged to Gill's father and was less used as his health deteriorated with consequent surface corrosion - although - not so much as a little TLC might not fix.
A photo of the whole tool in the extra, standing on a piece of sawn timber (oak?) which it might have been used on. This type of plane is beyond my skills, although I do occasionally use my father's Jack plane, which is the same sort of thing, just bigger (longer)
Most of Brian's tools went off to the charity Tools with a Mission. We just kept a few as a reminder of his skills. As a teacher we are sure he would have approved of his tools going to help someone who quite possibly used the money earned to educate their children.
Thanks to Incredibish for hosting Tiny Tuesday.
