Radio, Radio

I’ve been at Staveley tonight for a read through of some plays we’ll be putting on at the beginning of July. Titled “Murder in the Studio” it’s three Agatha Christie plays that were originally transmitted on the “BBC Light Service” in the 1940s/50s. And that’s how we’ll be performing them - as radio plays. Albeit in front of an audience!
Staveley have done this successfully before and I did one with BATS several years ago.
It’s an enjoyable thing to do - plenty of opportunities to play multiple roles (swapping hats as appropriate) and loads of fun to be had with producing the various sound effects - all of which can be seen by the audience!
We’ll find out in due course what part(s) we’ve got, and then rehearsals can commence in earnest. There will actually only be a month to get it all right because The Roundhouse is busy for most of May so those rehearsals will be concentrated in June. Not as bad as it sounds - it’s a radio play so we get to read from the script rather than having to learn loads of lines. Just how I like it…
