Capital adventures

Back to normal?

Haar this morning so chilly but I swam and again it was busy.  I need to go back to going at 7, not 6.43, and probably by bike.  Don't know why i think i have to be there so early.

After that fed cats, did a bit of sewing and then set off for my, long day, in town.  I was aching after the gardening yesterday, knees and lower back, and that was exacerbated by a poor wardrobe choice, wearing heeled boots (and a skirt, no less!) not flat trainers.  i suffered for the rest of the day.

First stop was Edinburgh fabrics to buy 2 more skeins of thread, then to the Dovecot for The Colourists tour.  I was SO glad I'd gone earlier this month with E.  It was very busy, too busy for a tour group of 15 including 3 young mums with babes in prams.  It wasn't very enjoyable. I just felt we were getting in the way of everyone else.  in such a small space they maybe need to have a way of limiting the general attendees when a tour is on.  There was also one of 'they folk off the telly' whose name I will remember, eventually.

Hobbled up to Nicolson Square (filled roll in hand) to get the bus down to Lothian Rd.  I was a bit early so bought some more garden lights and batteries for Willow's door.   I was headed for the Lyceum for the first class of the term.  It was a smaller group than anticipated with 3 new people. Prof Zinnie was the facilitator and we did an interesting and enjoyable exercise about developing character which involved some artistic (of the drawing kind) licence.

The sun had retuned by the time we finished, though it was still chilly, so I walked down to Gt Stuart St to check out the old office - nothing to see there - and then bussed along to Uniqlo.  By this time the unequalness of the bag I was carrying (full of the things I'd bought and my music etc) was affecting my back even more.  I could feel the muscles further up my back starting to scream.   After a couple of trips to the changing room I bought 1 pair of trousers.  I'll order a second pair online as the colour wasn't in stock.

I had an hour to kill, before the next appointment but I needed somewhere to sit so a coffee stop, then I bought some vegan chocs for L in Hotel Chocolat before skulking in George Street waiting for it to be 6 p.m.

I was off to Hamilton and Inches for an evening about their Scottish Gold collection.  It was very enjoyable, interesting people and some good craik.  Luckily the free champagnes did not lull me into agreeing to buy the beautiful collar necklace of rare Scottish Gold and precious gems, and matching bracelet.  Saved myself £93k with that decision but you can see me modelling it in the extra.

I knew before the end of the presentation that I wasn't going to make it to choir and in any case the event ran on till almost 8.30.  Back outside the haar had returned and once more I hobbled down the road but luckily there was a #37 at the stop and I got home, having fed cats,  just after 9.  Having not had lunch, or dinner, I succumbed to pasta and tuna.

I was vert glad to fall into bed!
