Gently down the stream

The Conundrum

We talked about this a bit last summer but never came to much of a conclusion, so I'm bringing up the subject again.

My wildflower fieldguide (The Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe by Fitter, Fitter and Blamey) calls this Pencilled Cranesbill, Geranium versicolor, and notes that it arrived here from Italy and the Balkans.  So do we now call it a British wildflower?  I certainly found and photographed it in the wild.  How long does it take for a wildflower to become British?  The book I'm referencing is a second edition published in 1974, so that's 50 odd years it's been considered a British or Northern European wildflower by those who compiled it, but I bet some of you at least would disagree..  Interesting.  Let me know what you think.  Do we keep it in WFW or banish it?

Whatever, it's very pretty, isn't it..

We weren't supposed to be seeing the sun at all today but it's mostly been lovely.  Just as well.  I've been bullocked into walking both the little dogs - separately so as to back up Bram's training.  Oh, thanks!

In a minute I'll add the results of WFW25_02 below.  Thanks to everyone who took part  xx
