Fishermans Friends

My first visit to the Minack Theatre, the extraordinary creation of Rowena Cade and her gardener Billy Rawlings. It’s amazing how they created the structure, using sand from the beach and cement to make their own form of concrete.

We were there for a concert by Fishermans Friends (“discovered” in Port Isaac in 2009 by radio DJ Jonnie Walker and with quite the subsequent career, although they remain semi-professional and still retain other jobs).

It was fisherman’s weather too. Leaving The Minack my upper part was dry, but my lower part definitely was not. I wasn’t totally prepared for so much rain. But it was good. I’ve never sat watching a concert before with fulmars wheeling over my head.
