The Tarka Line
Is one of the most scenic and picturesque railway lines in the south west.
It runs from Barnstaple to Exeter following the verdant river valleys of the Yeo and Taw. The line has linked North and South Devon since 1854.
Although I have lived in North Devon for over 25 years I have never been on it, until today that is.
A 70 minute journey on a traditional track which keeps you mesmerised by the changing countryside and rolling hills.
By pure coincidence my Godmother/aunt was in Exeter attending an appointment with her bank, we met up at lunchtime for a catchup before I saw her safely back onto her bus for home.
Dippy and I explored the cathedral and other interesting areas in a mixture of warm sunshine and a greyish cloud cover. As usual Dippy entertained everyone with his puppy eyes and wagging tail before returning to Barnstaple and the usual congested roads. (sunrise in extra.)
