Wee tim'rous beastie
Today's the day ...................... to re-locate
Practically from Day 1 of the polytunnel coming into existence here, it has also been adopted as fair game by the odd mouse or two.
They didn't do a lot of damage - apart from excavating pea or broad bean seeds that Will had started off in the polytunnel. But he cleverly put an end to that by an ingenious invention of the suspended drainpipe, which kept them out of harms way. Recently though, there has definitely one mouse that has shown a blatant disregard of the fact that he should live elsewhere.
Will set up a live trap, primed with a nice bit of cheese. The mouse (who obviously knew about these things) managed to eat the cheese - without setting the trap off. This stalemate went on for several days - until eventually Will won - and the mouse was caught.
So yesterday, on our way to Dundrennan Abbey, we released wee mousey back into the wild - but a fair way from here. We hope he has a long and happy life - but just not in the polytunnel ...................!
