Old Railway Bridge

I walked over 7.5 miles today - on a roundabout route to Wetherby via Clifford, Boston Spa, Thorp Arch and Walton!! I did walk a couple of miles along the old Harrogate / Church Fenton line - now a cycle route.

In Wetherby I detoured (along old railway tracks) towards the site of the old Station (the second one that was built in the town). The site has been cleared and it is now a car park!

This old bridge is at the northern end of the station and still carries the A661 Wetherby to Harrogate road. It is a slightly different design to other bridges locally - it is made of metal rather than stone - mainly because of the number of tracks it had to span at this point! The extra supports were added soon after the line closed - a Beeching casualty.

Added an extra of a great sign - which was on one of the old stone bridges. I do like the addition of the bat logo :-)
