Sailing

Father and son out in the sailing dinghy against the rocks in our bay. Oskar said it was great fun, he got to talk to his Dad a lot, and he had to duck the boom a lot. (yes this little dinghy has a jib, but it was just too windy...) The kayaks and the inflatable were used too. We’ve been waiting for the time when they could just go down to the dock by themselves and take out a boat! Love this! Also love them tooling around the bay laughing and giggling and making a lot of noise for the boats at anchor and the neighbors whose children we have listened to a lot over the years, just as the sun set.
A hilarious dinner discussion about the game of Minecraft? How many blippers know/play minecraft? There is an annual convention -this year in Orlando FL - that the parents tried their best to get tickets for - but just didn’t press the button on their 3 computers instant enough - it was instantly sold out. I can’t describe it -(google it) but these 3 know the people who own/run it, every block and person and what it is made out of, and have built many many very involved structures. (on my ipad, as well as their ipods) Blows me away. And then it struck me funny that our bedtime book is “My side of the Mountain” a 1959 novel by Jean Craighead George about a 12 year old boy who runs away from his NYC family and lives alone in a treehouse and learns how to be independent, with a falcon for a companion. They seem to like it too, (no electronics or superheroes or fantasy figures )altho they say they wouldn’t want to eat the stuff he finds to eat.
The parents left today so it's just the 5 of us. Everyone, including Grampa, crashed early tonight. My turn now......
